About Us


Owners: James and Jennie

We are both born and raised in the Northwest Territories (NWT) Canada. Our roots have always been in the Sahtú; focused on our family, community, and landscape. Home is where the heart is and we never stop being amazed at the wonders of this beautiful landscape we call home.

James is Métis and hails from Tųlı́t'ą, NWT. He has a vast knowledge of the land that comes only from a lifetime of experience. As a young child, he spent most of his time outside, up and down the Great Bear River and the Keele River every chance he got. Learning from the Elders, he acquired a wealth of knowledge from traditions and culture, carried on from thousands of years. 

If you have any questions about the area, he's definitely your guy! Not to mention the fact that he’s also pretty darn charming. He currently resides in Norman Wells with his spouse, and now business partner, Jennie. If you would like to contact James directly, please  email him at

Jennie is Sahtúgot'ı̨nę (person from Great Bear Lake) and grew up in Délı̨ne, NWT. She currently resides in Norman Wells with her spouse, James, and works for the territorial government as a Biologist. She enjoys connecting with her culture by spending time on the land. Jennie has training in fitness and nutrition and is passionate about health and wellness. She plans to host on the land retreats soon! If you would like to contact Jennie directly, email her at

Waiver Downloads

All guests must sign a waiver for all adventures. If you are under the age of 18, you must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver on your behalf. Signature of parent/guardian will have to be made at the time of rental in front of a Sahtu Adventures staff member.
